Suzi Q

Suzi Q. is a dynamic performer, lighting up stages for years. Among the highest-ranked slam poets in the country, she has shared stages with the late Gil Scott Heron, Les Nubians, Dead Prez, The Flobots, Rev. Run, Jean Grae, Talib Kweli and many more.

She has been featured on numerous television and radio programs, and her poetry has been sampled and remixed all over the world, earning International acclaim and controversy. Her single ‘Moments’, in collaboration with Psy’Aviah, received International attention as a finalist in the BBC’s ‘Next Big Thing’ contest.

Suzi Q. is also well-known as an Activist working with civil rights organizations, victims advocate organizations, arts organizations, peace organizations, and more.

Currently, Suzi Q. Smith performs poetry and music throughout the U.S. in addition to leading workshops. Suzi Q. is also a member of one of Denver’s most popular musical acts, the Lady Wu-Tang Clan, performing as Method Man alongside her fellow Lady Wu members to sold-out audiences around the region. Her song-laden style and passionate performances have earned her a place among the best spoken word artists in the nation.

Suzi Q. placed 3rd in the Women of the World Poetry Slam in March 2011 and 10th in the individual World Poetry Slam in October 2011. She is also a member of the 2012 Denver Slam Nuba Slam Team and a co-coach of the Denver Minor Disturbance Youth Poetry Slam Team currently ranked 3rd in the world.
