For him, magic has never been about the secrets behind the tricks.

It is about laughter, connections between people, and enjoyment. Over the past 18 years Mat Franco has chosen the path less traveled to explore something he loves to do.

Mat saw a magician on TV when he was just 4 years old, and has been hooked ever since. He didn’t watch cartoons, only magic tapes… over and over again. When he was about 6 years old, he discovered the “Slow-motion” button on the VCR remote. That was the beginning of his lessons in magic — learning the highly guarded secrets of the art. Although, he truly believes the “secrets” are a very small part of magic. The real secret to magic has not much to do with “tricking” or “fooling” someone. That’s simply not it, for him anyway.

Magic has many profound uses in the world today. Mat mostly uses “Magic” for entertainment value — creating a sense of fun, camaraderie, thought-provoking ideas, and relatable humor. That is often what he aims to create, whether on stage at a college, speaking at a corporate event, or doing impromptu close-up magic in my everyday interactions.
