Meet your April Student Spotlight of the Month:

Laura Harz from Northwest Missouri State

Position on Committee: Director of Entertainment Programming for Student Activities Council

Major: Child & Family Studies, Psych minor

How did you get involved with Campus Activities?

My freshman year I went to the organization fair on campus and found the SAC table. They were handing out cool cups and told us that there was going to be free pizza at the meeting that night so of course I went because it was free food! When I went to the meeting I was put on the concert and entertainment committee. I helped the directors at the time plan events such as comedians, novelties and music artists. I fell in love with the Student Activities Council and am so glad I get to be apart of such a great campus organization!

What are some of your favorite events you have planned?

My favorite event that I planned was Breaksk8 & Xclusive! I met Xclusive at NACA Nationals in North Carolina and I knew that he had to come to our school and perform! Xclusive was amazing and the crowd loved him! Breaksk8 was featured on “America’s Best Dance Crew” so most of the students had already heard of them and were psyched for the show! This event is going to be the hot topic on campus for a while!

What has been the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is definitely getting the students to come to the events we plan. We do promotions such as posters, banners, flyers and we also use social media but sometimes we still don’t get a huge crowd. We are currently working towards using other unique promotion ideas to help the number of students at our events.

What are you most looking forward to?

The next event I am most looking forward to is Mike Posner ft. Jeremih concert!! I am also looking forward to next semester and all the cool events we have planned!

If you could offer one piece of advice to other students, what would it be?

Have fun and get involved! I have met some of the most awesome people that I will never forget through Student Activites Council. I absolutely love being apart of this student organization and believe that joining SAC was the best college choice I have made!
